The Wessex Night League came to a dramatic conclusion on Saturday night with Gavin Clegg just managing to hold off Charlotte Thornton to retain the Night League Trophy. Chris Branford succeeded in hanging on to 3rd place meaning the 1/2/3 was identical to the 2011/12 season. Newcomer Carolyn Dent took 4th spot despite breaking her ankle part way through the season. Lyn Branford in 5th wins the award for most events competed . Lyn scored in 10 of the 12 races. At the last race Colin Hicks managed to overhaul son Jamie for the first time being 6th and 7th respectively. Broadstone was their 7th event (6 to count) and although Jamie has been the most consistent, Colin snuck ahead due to him having a worse score to discard. Julie Astin, Chris Turner and Ian Sayer making up the rest of the top ten.
It has been a fantastic night series with 84 people running. This compares to 64 last year and 59 the year before. With 16 races planned for the 2013/14 winter series, including one in Basingstoke and two in Southampton we could see over 100 competitors. With the snow now covering the ground lets look forward to the summer series!
